MAHCET MCA

MAH MCA CET will be conducted online by State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET CELL) established by the Government of Maharashtra, under Admission Regulating Authority (ARA), for admission to first year/ direct second year (separate division & lateral entry) of three year full time post graduate degree course in Master of Computer Applications (MCA).

  • All Government Institutes offering MCA course
  • All Government Aided Institutes offering MCA Course
  • All University Departments offering MCA course
  • University Managed Institutes offering MCA course
  • All Un-Aided MCA Institutes covered as per the Act
  • The candidate should be an Indian National;
  • Passed minimum three year duration Bachelor's Degree awarded by University recognized by University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only);
  • Studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at (10+2) level or at Graduate level examination;
  • For Direct second year admissions, the candidate should have passed Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science);
  • Candidates appearing for final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to appear for CET.
Two online papers in English Language viz.
A. General Aptitude (GA)
B. Computer Concepts (CC)
  • Each paper has 25 questions, with a score of 100 marks each.
  • Time duration of 90 minutes.
  • Each question has four answer choices of which only one will be appropriate.
  • Each correct answer will carry 4 marks.
  • Each Wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark.
  • Unanswered questions will carry zero marks.

The examination could be held in more than one session, then the scores across various sessions will be equated to adjust for slight differences in difficulty level of different test batteries used across sessions. Test wise scores and scores on total is reported with decimal points up to two digits.

A. General Aptitude

The main objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue a computer applications and software profession.

Areas covered:

  • logical reasoning
  • quantitative reasoning,
  • high school mathematics,
  • vocabulary,
  • English comprehension,
  • verbal ability.

A good grasp of the following topics of high school mathematics (up to the 12th standard) will be useful:

  • Algebra,
  • Co-ordinate Geometry,
  • Differential Equations,
  • Trigonometry, Probability and Statistics,
  • Arithmetic,
  • Basic Set Theory and Functions,
  • Mensuration.
B. Computer Concepts
  • Computer Basics,
  • Data Representation,
  • Computer Architecture,
  • Computer Language,
  • Operating System basics.

MAH MCA CET application form has to be submitted online only. Fee - Rs. 1000/- General Category Candidates from Maharashtra State, Outside Maharashtra State (OMS), J & K Migrant candidates Rs 800 - Candidates of Backward Class Categories and & Persons with Disability Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only. Application form processing fees is to be paid through online system only by Credit Card/ Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets for which the service charges, as per rules, shall be applicable in addition to the application form processing fees.

Study Material:
In these, the basic concepts of each topic of the subject are given with examples. These are followed by exercises to impart the basic knowledge of the subject to the students.

Classroom coaching: The classroom coaching has two modules - Basic Module, Individual Test Paper.

  • Basic Module: In this module, the basic concepts are taught to the students. The classes are designed such that the teaching of the concepts progresses from the absolute basic level to the level of MAH-CET.
  • Individual Test Papers: Once the basic concepts are taught, individual test papers are conducted at the end of each chapter/topic. The tests are followed by the discussions on the paper in the classroom. These sessions help to reinforce the concepts already learnt.
